I recall being in classrooms on the chateau grounds before Navereau was built. Miss Petney, Mr. Volk, Mr. David Smith. Tim Cartwright, Grant Evans, Robert Carey, Art Leviton and Gordon Trimble come to mind.

I taught grade three in Metz in the 1958-59 school year. I have just heard of this reunion and would like to be a part of it but cannot confirm as yet.

Thank you for setting this up!

Hotel and Train Information:

Norma and I just got back from three weeks in France, including three days in Metz. This time we stayed at the annex of the Hotel de la Cathedral, which was fine if you keep in mind that it's a 17th century building. We usually prefer something newer, but the view from room 108 was incredible, and the service was most accommodating. There are several nice restaurants in the neighbourhood; we liked The Ardoise. And there's even a place called Canada Adventure on a street between the back of the cathedral and the water... if you get home sick. Fat chance!

If you are going to be using the TGV that goes directly between Metz and the CDG 2A terminal used by Air Canada, be advised that it uses the SNCF Lorrain Gare, which is located 30 minutes south of Metz, between Metz and Nancy. Fortunately, there is an excellent shuttle ("navette" in French) operated by the SNCF which goes between the two gares, and it's trips are closely coordinated with the arrivals and departures of the TGV. It costs something like 4.5 euros per trip... a bargain. Until very recently, the service was offered by an independent operator, but the SNCF took it over and integrated it with their train service. The ticket is identical to a train ticket... and you even need to 'compost' it like a regular train ticket. We love the SNCF.
